Celebrating 20 Years of Wonder.

The 2025–2026 school year marks a joyful milestone: the 20th anniversary of TriBeCa Community School. What began in September 2006 with a single classroom for 15 children in the heart of TriBeCa has grown into a vibrant and enduring community of educators, families, and children.

Over the past 20 years, the children of TCS have been our greatest teachers. They remind us daily to stay curious and kind, to be brave and thoughtful, to create boldly and to keep our minds open. Along the way, they’ve waved to President Barack Obama from our windows, designed public art that brightened our neighborhood, and even written and sung their very own graduation song.

Our educators, too, have carried this spirit of learning beyond our walls, presenting at national conferences, partnering with public schools to bring Reggio-inspired learning to more children, and welcoming educators from around the world into our classrooms. Together, our community has hosted renowned speakers from Italy, contributed to national publications, and even helped bring the internationally celebrated Wonder of Learning exhibit to New York City.

Today, TriBeCa Community School stands as both a neighborhood treasure and an international destination for educators. More than 500 visiting teachers have walked our halls to witness the magic of learning in action. And yet, at our core, we remain what we have always been: a joyful, collaborative space where the smallest questions can lead to the biggest discoveries, and where every child is embraced as a thinker, a dreamer, and a valued member of our community.

Here’s to our first 20 years and to all the stories still to come.
